Areas of Specialism
Since qualifying as a counsellor I have undertaken my continuing professional development training in shame and trauma, mindfulness, chronic pain, carers fatigue, adult and children's safeguarding, PREVENT Training and adverse childhood experiences and resilience.
Additionally I have worked for four years for an agency that supports male and female survivors of sexual violence, providing clinical assessments, counselling and telephone counselling support.
I am supportive, gentle and respectful in my work as a therapist, I hold a strong belief that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is crucial to the outcomes of therapy. I aim to offer a confidential, safe and warm non-judgemental environment in which you and I can co-create a space to share your inner thoughts and feelings. I will respect your autonomy in our work together.
My previous work history in nursing and further education, and in counsellor training means that I have a particular interest in supporting counselling students, there is challenge in the dynamic of course required personal therapy and in the learning of theories that may or may not match your experience in the therapeutic space.
I work in a LGBTQ affirmative way. I value the opportunity to work with clients who are transitioning or grappling with issues around sexuality and gender.
